Liverpool are currently having a stand still in Mohamed Salah's contract talks as the Egyptian is holding out for a huge salary of £500,000 per week which the club is not willing to give. His current deal expires in 2023 and either the club gets him to sign or move him on to avoid losing out.

Spanish winger Marco Asensio has reportedly fallen out of favour at Real Madrid with Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti and he would be wanting a move away from Santiago Bernabeu to have regular playing time. At 25, he recently recovered from a 11 months injury and would need to get his career on track.

Asensio currently earns a weekly salary of £115,000, way lower compared to Mohamed Salah's current salary of £200,000 at Liverpool. If the stand still continues, it will be economical for the club to sign Asensio and pay him Salah's current salary than go out of their way to pay Salah.

Mohamed Salah has been at Liverpool since 2017 and has won the Premier League golden boot twice, setting a new record of 32 goals in 38 games in 2018. He is also a two times recipient of the African footballer of the year award in 2017 and 2018.
