That is why the French striker has taken action to eliminate once and for all this suspense and to know what are the intentions of Florentino Perez regarding his future at the Merengue club.

Will Karim Benzema stay or leave Real Madrid?

The French player is living an important moment as Real Madrid was in the hunt for the young star of Borussia Dortmund, Erling Haaland, a Norwegian striker just 21 years old who has enamored the Merengue board.

Due to this interest, Benzema has asked for a meeting with Florentino Perez, according to French media Onze.

The meeting would be to know about the club's intentions regarding Haaland since if the player arrives at the club, he would take minutes away from Benzema and he knows that the club would not spend so much on a substitute, but on a replacement.

For this reason, the Frenchman feels that his stay at Real Madrid, which is in first place in La Liga and has a 6-point gap over Sevilla, its closest rival, is under threat.

According to the aforementioned media, the meeting that Benzema wants would be in March, when Haaland would have already defined his decision to join Madrid or remain at Dortmund.

But on the horizon, there could be a glimmer of hope for Benzema, who in the current season with the Merengue club has played 21 games in La Liga, in which he has scored 17 goals and provided 7 assists, while in the Champions League he has 5 goals in 5 games and 1 assist.

Haaland's arrival at Madrid is complicated... for now

According to reports in the English press, Real Madrid will take a step back on the Erling Haaland issue as the club's priority at the moment is to land Kylian Mbappé.

Therefore, Florentino Perez will focus all his arsenal so that they can get the striker from PSG on June 30, when the Frenchman's contract with his current club expires.

On the other hand, Benzema's meeting request with Florentino may harm his club indirectly, since if Madrid miss the opportunity to sign Haaland, they would bring him closer to their eternal rival, FC Barcelona
