Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United at the beginning of the season and made an immediate impact but the impact has dwindled as the club is facing a difficult time with finding results on the pitch.
Ronaldo is a very competitive player and despite being 36 wants to compete at the very top level until he retires and will not accept anything lesser if he would remain at Manchester United next season. He wants Champions League football because that's where the spotlight is and he's the best in the competition.
Manchester United are currently sixth on the Premier League table and with Ole Gunnar Solskjær still in charge there is no clear indication that the club would be able to weather the storm and qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season, a situation which would certainly make Ronaldo walk away.
He has scored nine goals and provided one assist in 12 games for Manchester United this season and has won the club's player of the month for September and October. He also won the Premier League player of the month in October to cap off a remarkable beginning to the season.
