French midfielder Paul Pogba is one of football's biggest and most controversial stars. Super-talented, confident and socially savvy are some of the words that describe the 28-year-old World Cup winner. Despite starting as a deep-lying midfielder in the mould of Andrea Pirlo, Pogba has gradually moved further forward the pitch. He now plays as a box-to-box midfielder, often playing as one of two No 8s' or even drifting out to the left-wing and cutting in on his favourite right foot. More goal and assist contributions over the years have followed his interested attacking intent.

For his output on the pitch, his visibility on social media, and the never-ending buzz around his potentials, Manchester United pay handsome money to their former academy star. Paul Pogba sits 5th on the list of highest-earning players at Manchester United with a weekly pay of £290,000 (£15m annually). This is incredible pay by all means but could even get better.

Manchester United has reportedly tabled a 5-year contract extension deal to Paul Pogba that would see him earn a significant improvement on his current pay. The new contract is said to have a weekly salary of £400,000 (£21m). This would automatically make the ex-Juventus player the second best-paid player at Old Trafford, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo (£510,000). The deal is also expected to fend off approaches from Paris Saint-German who has been keen on taking the player back to his home country and home city.

Will and When can Paul Pogba join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)?

Paul Pogba's contract with Manchester United has entered its final twelve months. If no contract extension deal has been signed by January, then the player is free to start talking to other club sides and even sign a pre-agreement.

Paris Saint-Germain is one of the clubs to have shown real interest in signing the Frenchman. PSG coach, Mauricio Pochettino will know all about the elegant midfielder from his coaching days in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur. The Paris-based club was rumoured to have been preparing a £35m bid for Pogba during the past summer but nothing materialised.

They could be waiting for when he becomes a free agent in 2022 or perhaps Pogba could be stalling on leaving Manchester United. The midfielder's major point of leaving is to win major trophies but with the acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane this summer, the Red Devils might push for either the Premier League or the UEFA Champions League.

United was said to prefer selling him for a cut-price fee last summer rather than lose him for free next summer. Without any deal materialising, they will hope that the star midfielder puts pen to paper on the contract extension. It is not certain yet if Paul Pogba would join PSG but if he would he can sign for PSG as early as January 2022.

Paul Pogba could also join the French giants after the 2021/22 season or after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. If Manchester United wins a major trophy this season, we'd wait to see if Pogba will commit to fresh terms and stay at the Old Trafford.

Which other clubs want to sign Paul Pogba?

The French international has been courted for long by Spanish giants, Real Madrid. The Los Blancos see Paul Pogba as an ideal Galactico signing. He would join and improve an ailing midfield consisting of Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos. His star appeal would also improve the reach of Real Madrid.

Though Real Madrid already signed up the promising midfielder, Eduardo Camavinga from Rennes in a €40m deal on deadline day, it is not expected to affect the possible signing of Paul Pogba. With the playing days of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos gradually coming to an end, Real Madrid would need a more experienced midfielder to take the place of either of them. A midfield trio of Pogba, Casemiro and Camavinga could be possible in 2022.

Chelsea is another club rumoured with an interest in the midfielder. Though the chances of signing Paul Pogba to Stamford Bridge might be slim, it is not an impossibility. Chelsea has been linked with central defensive options such as Declan Rice, with the initial loan signing of Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid confirming that the Blues are looking to improve in that area. If the Spanish player does not excel under Thomas Tuchel, the Blues might consider an audacious bid to sign Pogba and pair him with an international teammate, Ngolo Kante

Another EPL club being linked with Paul Pogba is Liverpool. The chances of this deal happening is very slim due to the history between both sides but Paul Pogba is never one to shy away from controversy. Paul Pogba would be an immense upgrade on most of the midfielders already at the Anfield Stadium including Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

How much will Paul Pogba earn at PSG?

If Paul Pogba moves to Paris Saint-Germain, he is expected to be given a bumper contract. The going rate at PSG is high, with players such as Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe earning as high as €700,000 per week. Thus, the French midfielder would be offered a salary close to what these stars earn.

Paul Pogba would earn within the range of €500,000 to €600,000 weekly if he were to move to PSG. This is significantly more than the £400,000-a-week contract extension being offered by Manchester United.
