Xavi and Barcelona are stepping up their interest in Manchester City's Spanish forward Ferran Torres after it is becoming obvious French winger Ousmane Dembele is unwilling to put pen to paper over a new contract with offers coming for him from the Premier League.
Dembele's injury records at Barcelona is another point of consideration for the club to cut their losses and let him leave and the replacement highlighted by Xavi is a very good one. Ferran Torres joined Pep Guardiola's side in 2020 and has proven to be an asset with his knack for goals and versatility.
Torres can play anywhere across the frontline as he has often been deployed in the false 9 role by Guardiola and for Spain with Luis Enrique and has played it excellently well. At just 21, he fits the profile of a player Xavi wants to build his team around.
Torres has scored 16 goals and provided four assists in 43 games since he joined Manchester City. Demeble has scored 30 goals and provided 21 assists in 120 games for Barcelona. Torres has a better scoring ratio but Dembele could have done better if he stays fit.
