Over the last seasons, Edson Alvarez was in Wolverhampton's radar for the next season. That gave hopes to the Mexican fans who wanted to see him playing alongside Raul Jimenez in the future, and have two Mexican players in a club of a top league. But news about that interest stalled, and now Edson has another team following him.

Erik Ten Hag, Ajax coach, does not count on the former Club America player too much, and wants to find him a new club as soon as possible. And a new option appeared, in a more competitive league and from a team which could not only guarantee him a spot in
Mexico starting eleven, also could make his market value rise.

So Alvarez is flattered about being wanted by Valencia. This team is currently struggling in La Liga, being in the 13th place. The squad is underperforming, but that means they need someone with more quality to make the team perform better, and that is why Edson is the wanted one. He also would partner the young USMNT player Yunus Musah.

Ajax is currently in the first place of Eredivisie, three points ahead PSV Eindhoven after 12 matches, with Alvarez playing eight of them. He also played four of the six matches Ajax played in UEFA Champions League group stage, where the performance was bad and ended up third, qualifying for UEFA Europa League.
