Most national leagues are expectedly dominated by the citizens of that country and also by foreign nationals. The Liga MX is no exception, with many clubs having more Mexicans than foreigners. Most leagues have a homegrown quota of players who are citizens of the country or are trained from a certain age in the country. Mexican club Cruz Azul is dominated by Mexicans but who are their foreign players.

 

Jonathan Rodriguez 

Top of the list is Jonathan Rodriguez, he is a 28 years old center forward who made his debut for the Uruguayan national team on the 10th of October, 2014 and has three goals and four assists in 28 appearances for the national team. He joined Cruz Azul in 2019. He is one of the best rated Liga MX players on FIFA 22.

 

Juan Escobar

Juan Escobar is a Paraguayan international. The 26 years old centre-back or right-back has six appearances for his national team. He joined Cruz Azul in 2019 and is a regular for the club.

 

Ignacio Rivero

The 29 years old midfielder was born in the Uruguayan capital city of Montevideo, although he's yet to feature for the national team. He joined Cruz Azul this year after an initial loan move from Tijuana.

 

Yoshimar Yotún

The 31 years old central midfielder is from Peru and is one of the most successful with his national team on Cruz Azul roster. He has 108 appearances for the national team with five goals and 12 assists.

 

Guillermo Fernández

Guillermo Fernandez is a 29years old Argentina attacking midfielder. He began his football career at Boca Juniors. He joined Cruz Azul in 2019 but spent 2020 on loan at Boca Juniors. He is yet to feature for the national team.

 

Rómulo Otero

Romulo Otero joined Cruz Azul at the beginning of the season and is yet to score. He is a 28 years old Venezuelan with six goals and eight assists in 42 appearances for the national team. 

 

Walter Montoya

Walter Montoya began his career with Rosario Central in Argentina and played one year in Europe with Spanish club Sevilla before signing for Cruz Azul. At 28, he is yet to make any appearance for the Argentina national team.

 

Bryan Angulo

The 25year old center forward is from Ecuador and has made two appearances since his debut in 2018. He joined Cruz Azul in 2021

 

Lucas Passerini

Lucas Passerini joined Cruz Azul in 2019 and spent his first season on loan at Necaxa and is currently on loan at Atletico San Luis. The 27 years old center forward is from Argentina but is yet to play for the national team.
