Weeks ago there was talk that Almeyda should stop being the coach of SJ Earthquakes but after obtaining three wins in the last three games, the critics changed their minds. Almeyda has two years left on his contract but he said that they will continue to win so that the two years become 10 more. Almeyda sees her future in SJ Earthquakes.
Almeyda's statement makes it very clear that soccer today is governed by results and that coaches have the sole objective of winning. A long-term project like Ben Olsen's at DC United is increasingly rare in MLS. Almeyda wants to stay in SJ Earthquakes and be able to win an MLS championship.
SJ Earthquakes scored 4 goals for LA Galaxy and settled into their fight to enter the MLS playoffs. Almeyda seems to have found the way for the SJ Earthquakes team and everyone is happier because of the latest victories. With the recent victory SJ Eartquakes is seventh in the Western Conference standings.
Although his place in the MLS playoffs is not yet assured, SJ Earthquakes knew how to change his bad image that he had been having. Almeyda feels comfortable coaching SJ Earthquakes and the players say that the Argentine coach is doing a great job. Hopefully we can enjoy Almeyda for a long time in MLS.
