Alfredo Talavera, defends the Mexico National Team goal at 39 years of age and apparently does it better than ever. Oswaldo Sánchez is also on the list of the longest-lived goalkeepers who have played in the team, who played his last game with the national team at the age of 38 years and 20 days, but it was surpassed by the archer arisen in Chivas de Guadalajara.

In 2012 he played his first World Cup qualifying match for Brazil 2014, against El Salvador. On  2014 he was included by coach Miguel Herrera in the final list of 23 players who would represent Mexico in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and in 2015 he was called by the interim Technician of the Mexican National Team Ricardo Ferretti for friendly matches against Trinidad & Tobago and Argentina, as well as for the match against the United States and qualification for the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.

Since his debut in the first division with Chivas, Alfredo Talavera showed great qualities. However, he was always under the shadow of his teacher, as he called him, Oswaldo Sánchez. With the passage of time he was adding more participations with the team, mainly when Oswaldo was absent due to commitments with the Mexican National Team and for the constant participation in the Copa Libertadores.

For the 2009 Apertura Tournament he was signed by Toluca, with which he made his debut against the Chivas de Guadalajara, when he received 3 goals, but was able to win thanks to the 4 in favor. Talavera was part of the Red Devils squad for 11 years and was later signed by the Pumas.

For his good performances last year, he was chosen as the best goalkeeper thanks to 95 saves and 6 unbeaten hurdles in the contest where the University team was runner-up. In the probable event that El Tri qualifies for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and Alfredo Talavera is part of the final list, the Pumas goalkeeper would reach the fair with 40 years of age.
