Estevão Willian has many Brazilian and Chelsea fans very excited since he has shown lots of potential in Brazil while playing for Palmeiras. The Brazilian teenager will play for Chelsea next summer since he is currently 17 years old and will turn 18 next year. While Chelsea may have signed a generational talent, FC Barcelona was very close to making the signing first. The Catalan club was very interested in signing him, but they couldn't get a deal done. Mundo Deportivo reports that Before Estevão Willian signed for Chelsea, Barça was an option. In November, his father was at the Sports City with his agent to meet the club. Barça, however, had to face other priorities due to the economic situation of the club. The club would've signed the player had the financial situation not been an issue since the Brazilian player was open to making the move, and it has been reported that his dream was to play for FC Barcelona. He chose to play for Chelsea next year as the club was offering him and Palmeiras a great deal.
Last year, Willian apparently openly spoke about wanting to play for FC Barcelona in the future. The young winger said, "Greatest dream to fulfill? Play at Barcelona, which is one of the best clubs in the world. I was born watching Neymar, Messi and Suárez play at Barcelona and that's the dream I have." He was even given a Pedri FC Barcelona jersey that made him happy.
FC Barcelona fans were hoping for the club to make the deal happen since they signed Neymar at a young age, and it turned out to be a success. Now, Chelsea fans are very excited to see how he will perform in the Premier League next year. He recently scored an amazing goal in Brazil that amazed many Chelsea fans, and some believe he should be brought now.
The Brazilian winger started 10 out of the last 14 matches with Palmeiras. He scored four goals and provided two assists so far in the Serie A of Brazil. He completed the most dribbles in the match vs Gremio with five in a 2-2 draw, where he scored the equalizer.
