Unlike other tournaments, the Mexican national team will bring in fresh new faces in the Copa America tournament, and their manager Jaime Lozano will give his full trust in a specific player in the attack. Lozano called up Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez. The Mexican striker was rumored to join Manchester City after amazing performances with the Dutch side. With the potential interest and signing failing, Gimenez looks to join another Premier League that is very interested in him: Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs are looking for a striker, and to make sure that Gimenez is the right option for next season, the Mexican striker will try to perform the best possible in the upcoming Copa America.

Santi is a player that Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou likes and thinks could fit his system as he remains in search of a Harry Kane replacement. Son played as the main striker this past season with Spurs as Richarlison has struggled to find good form to start many games. Gimenez has scored 26 goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances for Feyenoord in all competitions.

Gimenez and his agents were even seen at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium a few weeks ago during the Spurs vs Arsenal match in the Premier League, which ended 3-2 in favor of Arsenal. Spurs have been interested in Gimenez since Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich last year. Spurs struggled to find the right profile of striker as Son is often a left winger, and Richarlison is not doing well. Spurs are also interested in Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, which shows that their priority this summer transfer window is signing a striker.

Santi Gimenez and Mexico’s Road to the Copa America
Santi Gimenez is called up for the Copa America with the Mexican national team, and they have three friendlies before the tournament starts. Mexico will face Bolivia on May 31st at Soldier Field, Uruguay on June 5th at Empower Field at Mile High, and Brazil on June 8th at Kyle Field.
Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, and Jamaica are in Group B. Mexico faces Jamaica first on June 22nd at the NRG Stadium, then they take on Venezuela on June 26th at SoFi Stadium, and finally, they face Ecuador on June 30th at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
