Mauricio Pochettino used to coach Lionel Messi and Neymar at PSG, but things did not go to plan. The Argentine manager only coached 84 games in all competitions with PSG, as he started in early 2021 and left in the summer of 2022. His time at Chelsea was even shorter as he was appointed last summer and has parted ways with the club just two days ago. Now, Pochettino is linked to the Manchester United job despite Erik Ten Hag not being sacked. Ten Hag is reported to leave Manchester United this summer after the FA Cup Final this weekend against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium. Pochettino would arrive for free since he is now a free agent, but his wages would be around $10 to $13.2 million. The manager from Argentina earned a yearly salary of $13.2 million at Chelsea.

Pochettino is among four managers who will be favorites to take over the Manchester United team next season. Other names linked to the Man United job are Thomas Tuchel, Kieran McKenna, and Thomas Frank. Di Marzio also reported that Ten Hag is set to leave Manchester United this summer after the FA Cup Final occurs, regardless of the result.

Many are unsure if Pochettino knew that his time with Chelsea was up as he joked that his departure from the club would be the next news. An interview in the final press conference of the season asked if he was leaving Chelsea. Pochettino laughed, shrugged his shoulders, and said, “That is the next news.” Pochettino’s final game as the Chelsea manager was Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. Moises Caicedo and Raheem Sterling scored the final goals of Pochettino’s tenure at Chelsea.
