The FIFA World Cup is staged every four years since the first edition which was hosted and won by Uruguay in 1930 and has remained top of all sporting activities in terms of viewership, revenue and excitement across the World.

Soccer being the biggest sport in the world is certainly an advantage for the biggest competition in soccer to topple other sporting competition. It's frequency that makes the chances of participation and winning very low is also an added advantage.

The NFL Super Bowl is one of the biggest sporting events in the United States of America. The popularity of American football is not so pronounced in many parts of the world, hence it is limited in viewership compared to soccer.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup final polled a viewership of 1.12 billion viewers while the highest grossing NFL Super Bowl grossed 114 million viewers, more than ten times its size. The 2021 Super Bowl had a revenue of $545m while 2018 FIFA World Cup had a revenue of $5.36 billion.
