Palmeiras defeated Flamengo in the all Brazilian Copa Libertadores final to become the CONMEBOL continental champions and book a place in the FIFA Club World Cup to be held next year in UAE.

They joined the other continental champions and the UAE champion for the 2021 edition - Chelsea (UEFA), Al Ahly (CAF), Auckland City (OFC), Monterrey (CONCACAF), Al Hilal (AFC), Palmeiras (CONMEBOL), Al Jazira (Host Country Team).

The UEFA Champions League and Copa Libertadores winner will enter the competition in the semi-final and cannot meet until the final of the competition. Unless both Chelsea and Palmeiras make it to the final of the competition, they will not meet.

The last time Chelsea played a Brazilian club in the final was 2013 when they won the Champions League in 2012. They played Corinthians and lost 1-0 in the final. $10m is at stake and Thomas Tuchel's men wouldn't want to take any chances.
