Tigres bad luck continues in the Miguel Herrera era. The complicated start in the Apertura 2021 and the elimination in the Leagues Cup, would be joined by a fracture of the striker André-Pierre Gignac. The Frenchman reported from his official accounts on social networks that: "A tiny fracture will not defeat me", after missing the last two games due to injury.

Minutes later the Club Tigres reported that Gignac presented: "a small avulsion in the right fibula and his recovery prognosis ranges from two to three weeks." After his participation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with the French national team, the Frenchman reported with the felines and in the first diagnosis he presented a sprain in the right ankle ligament and a bone contusion in the right fibula, an injury that would have worsened in the last days.

Gignac would miss the next four weeks depending on the evolution of his injury, so he would miss half the tournament, since he could return until after matchday 8 of Apertura 2021. André-Pierre has not been able to make his debut in the tournament, since the first two days he was not considered due to being in the Olympic Games and the following two due to injury.

"Yesterday André sped up a bit, he spoke with a traumatologist, they took the studies, fortunately it is not the injury that was handled yesterday, it is a discomfort in the tendon that will take a few more days", assure Miguel Herrera of the most important player of the team.
