Businessmen in the United States are increasingly looking at European soccer as an investment opportunity and have found it in Serie A. With the recent acquisition of Parma by businessman Kyle Krause there are now four clubs in the top Italian soccer division bought by American moguls.

The acquisition of the historic Parma Calcio 1913 by the American businessman joins Roma, which recently passed from the hands of James Pallotta, one of the Boston Celtics owners, to those of the Texan millionaire Dan Friedkin. Fiorentina is owned by Italian American mogul Rocco Commisso, and AC Milan by the Elliott Investment Fund.

If we keep looking at the composition of the ownership group of smaller teams within Italy, we can find that a Canadian businessman has chosen Serie A invest in. We are talking about Joey Saputo, Montreal Impact's president, who owns Bologna Football Club 1909 since 2015.

In Serie B, Italy's second division, Venezia Calcio is in the hands of American investors since 2015. The first American owner of the North Italian side was Joe Tacopina and, since the beginning of this year, it has been transferred VFC Newco 2020 LLC consortium, whom Duncan Niederauer presides.

The last American businessman to arrive to Serie A is Kyle Krause. Krause is on the businesses of tourism, wine and agriculture. He had agreed with the Parmesan entrepreneurs Nuovo Inizio, now former owners of Parma, to purchase 90% of the club's shares. The fee paid by Krause was to one hundred million euros.
