Unfortunately for the midfielder, an injury will take him off the courts and he will not be able to participate in the Gold Cup. The Mexican National Team is preparing for what will be an extremely busy summer. El Tri Mayor, directed by Gerardo Martino, will face a new edition of the Gold Cup in which, unfortunately, the national team will not be able to count on its captain.

The Little Prince will be dropped from the Tri squad due to a severe grade II injury to the left femoral biceps. His recovery will take four to six months and, although at the beginning they believed that it could be less, the severity increased and he will not be able to participate in the Gold Cup.

Andrés Guardado, who currently pursues Claudio Suárez on the list of the players with the most games played with El Tri, could close that distance even more in the Gold Cup. Now, his place will be taken by Erick Daniel Sánchez de Pachuca, although he is emerging as a substitute.

Gerardo Martino will now have to think about a new midfield. With the friendlies against Panama and Nigeria on the doorstep, the strategist could make use of other chips to, in the short time he has left, determine who will be in charge of covering the belt on the pitch.
