América, Pumas, Cruz Azul and Chivas are a few point away of been together in the final phase of the Liga MX after 18 tournaments. The last time the four most popular Mexican teams reached the final phase all together was in the Clausura 2011. Las Águilas, Los Felinos and La Maquina Cementera could secure their ticket to the league's postseason this weekend, while Guadalajara is still in a playoffs position.

The 2011 Clausura championship was the last time these four met in postseason. In that championship, Pumas finished second with 35 points, Cruz Azul and América were fifth and sixth, each with 26 points, and Chivas entered eighth with 25. That championship brings good memories to the Pumas' fans since the Felinos won it.

The three teams from the capital will have defining duels this weekend. América will face Tigres at their home, while Cruz Azul will visit Monterrey. Pumas and Chivas will play a key game for both. The DF teams will clinched spots and qualify for the playoffs if they win. If they don't, they will have a new chance next week. Chivas, in the meantime, needs many things to happen to qualify now.

America is the team that has qualified more times to the playoffs. Moreover, of the last 10 final phases of the Liga MX America had been present in 8. Anyway, since 2015 the team coached by Miguel Herrera has only won the Apertura 2018. Pumas qualified in five occasions to the final phase of Liga MX, while Chivas and Cruz Azul have only qualified four teams each.
