Paris Saint Germain and Racing Club de Strasbourg played in the second round of the French Ligue 1. The team coached by Mauricio Pochettino won 4-2 to stay at the top of the standings. After Messi's introduction PSG controlled possession from the start without any problems, with Kylian Mbappé dropping back to play more of the ball, after 3 minutes Mauro Icardi headed in a cross from the left and sent the ball into the back of the net.

The Parisian team increased its lead at the end of the first half with two goals in four minutes. Mbappé made it 2-0. This was the end of a first half in which Paris Saint-Germain outplayed their opponents. However, to everyone's surprise, Racing Strasbourg scored two goals at the start of the second half. One came after a cross from the right by Thomasson found Kevin Gameiro, one of the stars of the team, in the heart of the box, who managed to find a gap between Kimpembe and Kehrer to head home for 3-1.

Then came a goal in the 63rd minute, again with a header, although the scorer was Ludovic Ajorque. Despite Liénard's delivery into the box coming up short, Ajorque managed to get away from Kimpembe and headed home to make it 3-2 and put the game into the home straight. PSG took advantage of their extra man to kill the game off with a goal from Pablo Sarabia. Once again, it was Mbappé who took advantage of his physical power to break free of the markers and pass the ball back to Sarabia to make it 4-2.

It was a day of celebration at the Parc des Princes stadium, where the home side added another victory in the championship (they had beaten Troyes 2-1 in their debut). After the presentation of Messi and the other four signings, the 48,000 people who came to the stadium to respect the conditions due to the coronavirus pandemic were able to enjoy a convincing victory.
