Monterrey, one step away from matching Pachuca trophies in CONCACAF

Mexican club Pachuca has a 100% record in number of CONCACAF Champions League finals played and won. It has appeared in five Champions League and won all five. Monterrey matched their record of five finals after beating Cruz Azul to set up a final date with Club America who beat Philadelphia Union.

 

Pachuca won the CONCACAF Champions League in 2002, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2017. Monterrey won it in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2019 and will play their fifth final on October 28 against Club America, if they win they will match Pachuca's record and both teams will be two wins away from match Club America's seven trophies.

 

Club America is the most successful club in the history of CONCACAF Champions League having won all seven finals they've played in with 100% record. If they will this year, they will extend it to eight trophies and maintain their 100% record while Monterrey will not equal Pachuca's record.

 

Monterrey and Pachuca have played each other 54 times in history. Monterrey are the better team with 24 wins, Pachuca have won 15 while 15 have ended in draws. Pachuca have won the Liga MX six times while Monterrey have won it five times.
