Diego Simeone's Atlético de Madrid achieved an agonizing victory on Tuesday by beating AC Milan 2 to 1 as a visitor, in San Siro, thanks to the goals in the final stretch of the French Antoine Griezmann and the Uruguayan Luis Suárez, from a penalty, and after playing for more than an hour with one more.

Atlético did not have a placid return at San Siro. His return to the fiefdom of the seven-time European champion was not at all comfortable, partly due to a certain lack of intensity when facing the duel, which did not forgive a hungry Milan to return to being a protagonist in the Old Continent.

The local team came out with clear ideas and put tremendous intensity into the crash from the opening whistle. Rossonero midfield devoured the Colchonero, lost in the fast-paced local rhythm and unable to find air to stop a game that went against him in the 20th minute, when Rafael Leao scored the first goal of the game.

In the end, the La Liga champion found a reward for his siege with the long-awaited goal from Griezmann, at 84, still with time to look for a new comeback against an opponent already looking to scratch the tie despite two threatening shots from Florenzi. Joao Felix had a good option, but it was, again, in discount, when he found a vital triumph with the end of the curse of Suárez at home and from a penalty in the 97th minute.
