Club América & Monterrey put impressive joint record on the line in CONCACAF Champions League Final

On October 28th, Monterrey FC will welcome Club America to the Estadio BBVA for the 2020/21 CONCACAF Champions League final. Monterrey qualified for this year's final by defeating fellow Liga MX side, Cruz Azul by an aggregate scoreline of 5-1. For Club America, they recorded 2-0 victories home and away against MLS side, Philadelphia Union to take their place in the showpiece event. The two Liga MX sides will be competing in the 9th all-Mexican CONCACAF Champions League final in the past 13 years.

Club America are the record holders of the CONCACAF Champions League, winning the coveted trophy 7 times in 1977, 1987, 1990, 1992, 2006, 2015 and 2016. Only Cruz Azul has appeared in more finals (8) than America's 7. Javier Aguirre's Monterrey side will also be hoping to add a 5th CONCACAF Champions League title to the 4 they won in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2019 seasons. This will be the first time both sides will be meeting in the final match of the continental competition.

Monterrey and Club America impressive CONCACAF Champions League Final Record

Going into the October 28th final, both teams have an impressive streak at the finals of the continental competition. Club America and Monterrey have never lost a CONCACAF Champions League final match. The two clubs hold this record with Pachuca as the only clubs to have won multiple CONCACAF Champions League titles and have never lost in the CONCACAF Champions League final match.

Club America has won all 7 finals they've appeared in (1977, 1987, 1990, 1992, 2006, 2015 & 2016) while Monterrey has also come out tops in all 4 finals they've qualified for (2011, 2012, 2013 & 2019). Pachuca also has the same dignity, winning all 5 of their CONCACAF Champions League final matches (2002, 2007, 2008, 2010 & 2017). However, on October 28th, one of the Liga MX sides will lose their unbeaten run in the finals of the elite continental competition.
