Three English teams, two German, one Spanish, one French and one Portuguese are the best eight in this edition of the European Champions League. In April they will play the round of the quarterfinals and several of those matches will be marked by curiosities that will make the competition on the pitch more attractive.

The quarterfinal crosses of the UEFA Champions League are already defined. While Real Madrid avoided the three clubs with the poster of favorites, as Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain and Manchester City, Chelsea and Porto also ran with luck, teams that will face being, on the papers, the least privileged. However, there are five curious facts that those games will leave us and that we bring next.

- The revenge of Lisbon

In the first match the finalists of the previous edition will be measured: Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain. In that match held in Lisbon, the Bavarians shattered the French dream of being crowned for the first time on a continental level. This time, Kylian Mbappé has one more year of experience and is the leader of PSG, just as Robert Lewandowski is in the German team.

- Second round: “Ramos vs. Salah”

Real Madrid and Liverpool played the final of the tournament in 2018. Although the meringues raised the Cup, the match was marked by an unfortunate incident: a foul by Sergio Ramos on Mohamed Salah left the Egyptian injured, who had to leave in the first half and He even missed part of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Now Salah has a chance to get even.

- Chelsea's strange coincidence

The only time the London team won the Champions League was in the 2011/12 campaign. On that occasion they beat a Portuguese team in the quarterfinals, a Spanish in the semifinals and a German in the grand final. This year, they will face Porto in the quarterfinals, if they win they could face Real Madrid in the semifinals and if they advance they could collide with Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund in the decisive match.

- From such a father such a son

Borussia Dortmund will face Manchester City and their main offensive weapon is the Norwegian Erling Haaland. The 20 years old striker will face the club where his father, Alf-Inge Håland, played. While Erling has 35 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund, his father added 35 Premier League games with Manchester City´s jersey. Another strange coincidence.

- The prodigal son comes home

Along with Haaland, Jadon Sancho is Dortmund's offensive reference. The young Englishman will return to the Etihad Stadium, home of Manchester City, a club of which he has been a part of the youth divisions. He was even at the command of Josep Guardiola in the first team, but the lack of opportunities and a contractual difference ended up taking him to Germany in 2017.
