French legend doubts Arsenal target Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham will click

Emmanuel Petit has spoken against Kylian Mbappe's potential move to Real Madrid suggesting that it might destabilize the dressing room and vibe at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Petit's former club Arsenal is also amongst the teams interested in the France international as he approaches the end of his lucrative contract at Paris Saint-Germain.

The 25-year-old has flirted with Madrid since 2017 while another France great Zinedine Zidane was still in charge, but the Ligue 1 giants managed to convince him to stay and even brought in superstars Lionel Messi and Neymar to please him.

The project did not work out with Messi and Neymar leaving the club to pursue their careers in the USA and Saudi Arabia respectively while Mbappe stayed for the rebuild of the team.

It now really sounds like the French star is ready to take on the next challenge in a higher-profile league but Petit believes Mbappe's chance to join Madrid has passed and the team now is Jude Bellingham's team.

"He’s (Bellingham) a star, actually," the former midfielder told talkSPORT Drive. "Everything he touches is turning to gold.

"They (Real) were ready to break the bank for him (Mbappe). What happened afterwards is not the same situation now. Why? Because they felt probably betrayed, Madrid."

He added: "I don't know if that is right or not but this is the situation. On top of this, you have got Bellingham. He is the star of Madrid right now.

"Do you think you can have mini-stars who can shine at Madrid?"
