Weston McKennie started in Juventus' win over Bologna

Weston McKennie started Juventus' victory over Bologna in the eighteenth matchday of Serie A. The player came off the bench in the 72nd minute, but was very active in his team's victory.

The match was a close one for Bianconeri, the team where the American plays, but they fought until the end and managed to win with a score of 2-0. 

The result is also an oxygen tank for Juve, as they are now in sixth place in the competition. 

McKennie was a starter at the beginning of the match and played an active role in his team's victory, but was sent to the bench at the 72nd minute of the match, so he could not finish the game. 

The USMNT's senior international received a yellow card in the first half after an argument with Argentine Nicolás Domínguez.

But he left the game with the confidence that he had earned the trust of Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri. 

Thanks to this result, Weston McKennie's Juventus moved up to sixth place in the overall Serie A standings with 31 points.

How did the injury that kept McKennie off the field occur?

Despite predictions that the player would not be able to recover from his injury any time soon and would most likely be out of action until January 2022, McKennie achieved the unthinkable and returned to the field. 

The player surprised his teammates and the media when he was caught on video on December 15 training with his team. 

According to Italian journalist Romeo Agresti, McKennie took part in the full session on Wednesday and from there was presented as an option for Massimiliano Allegri ahead of today's match against Bologna.

It was very unlikely that the midfielder would start, so he was likely taken off the field before the end of the match to take care of his health. 

The injury that affected the Little Elm, Texas-born player occurred against Atalanta, a team that beat Juve with a score of 1-0. 

After being one of his team's best men on the field, Weston McKennie began to limp around the 65th minute, and eventually dropped to the side of the field.

Initially, the worst was feared for the player: a knee ligament injury.

However, the day after the game, the medical report indicated that there was no cause for alarm. However, the player was to be kept under observation. 

And in the match against Bologna, it could be confirmed that McKennie is now out of danger and that his injury will not prevent him from continuing to seek more minutes as a starter in Allegri's team. 

And if the player continues to prove that he is in good health, he will surely be in the starting eleven to face Turin before the Christmas break.
