Premier League's Arsenal joins the hunt for Sergiño Dest

In a surprise twist on his lack of prominence at Barcelona, news has just exploded that Premier League side Arsenal has just entered the hunt for USMNT defender Sergiño Dest. 

Dest has not had many minutes or prominence in the Culé club, and on the other hand, this team has been facing money problems for months, so selling the American would be a great help.

And luckily for Barcelona, Arsenal has just made a millionaire offer for the Stars and Stripes player.  

How much is Arsenal offering for Sergiño Dest?

As reported by NBC, Joan Laporta, current president of Futbol Club Barcelona, would be valuing the United States national team player in a considerable amount. 

The amount would be $50 million, double what it cost them to bring him from Ajax, which would also help them with their financial problems. 

Therefore, if Arsenal want Dest in this winter transfer window, they will have to open their checkbook and offer what the Spanish club is asking for to field the American defender in their team.

In addition, Arsenal will have to compete with Bayern Munich, who have been after the player for some time.

Dest currently has 1,200 minutes of playing time in his second season at Barça. He has provided three assists this season and managed to score three goals in 41 games last season.

And because he has not had the desired prominence, it has been speculated for weeks that he is no longer comfortable at the club, so he would look to leave in this winter market.

If the Gunners manage to take Dest, they would get good support for the team's defense, which currently has Kieran Tierney and Nuno Tavares at left-back, in addition to Takehiro Tomiyasu on the right, all of whom are 24 years old or younger. 

Another team that would enter the fight to obtain Dest would be Chelsea, a club that currently already has an American in its ranks, USMNT star Christian Pulisic, who is also rumored to be close to leaving his club. 

However, the Blues would be far from taking the player as they are only willing to put $35 million on the table to take him. 

Thomas Tuchel's need to take Sergiño Dest lies in the fact that Cesar Azpilicueta is close to leaving the club, so he needs someone who can compete with Reece James in that position. 

The coach also needs someone who can fill the gap left by Chilwell due to his injury, as Marcos Alonso still fails to convince him. 

What has Dest said about his possible departure from Barcelona?

The defender so far has not commented on the possible offers from the different teams that are looking for him, however, he remains firm in his idea of recovering the best level in his current team. 

A few days ago it was made public that Xavi spoke with him, and that the coach of the Culé club would have told him that he expects him to recover completely from the injuries that have affected him since he hopes to count on him at his best level.
