Has England ever beat the US in the World Cup?

The United States national team will face England in the next edition of Qatar 2022. The match corresponds to Group B of the most prestigious tournament at club level. However, this is not the first time the two teams have faced each other in World Cups. So the question arises: has England ever beaten the United States in a FIFA World Cup?

How far has the US Men’s National Team gone in the World Cup

The two teams have faced each other before. The Americans and the English have met twice in a World Cup. The first time was at Brazil 1950, where the English lost to the Stars and Stripes. All thanks to a goal by Joe Gaetjens at the 38th minute. Bill Jeffrey was the coach of the American team at that time.

The second time they would face each other would be in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. In it they faced each other during the group stage corresponding to group C of the tournament. The match ended in a draw with goals by Steven Gerrard and Clint Dempsey. The highlight of the match was the slip of the ball by Robert Green in the U.S. team's goal. 

In that sense, to date, the English team has not been able to defeat the United States team in any World Cup. USMNT have one win, one draw and zero defeats against England.

When will the two teams meet again?

It turns out that the draw for Qatar 2022 paired both teams in Group B with Wales and Iran. The team currently coached by Gregg Berhalter will meet the English team on November 25, 2022.
