The situation with the Blues is hotting up and so Romelu Lukaku sent a revealing text message to Tim Howard, his teammate of several years.

Perhaps for this reason, and for statements that the player gave in recent days he was not lined up in today's Chelsea game, in which Christian Pulisic pulled the chips out of the fire and scored a goal to draw with Liverpool.

By all reports, Lukaku has not been at ease since his return to the club and so, he tried to vent to former teammate Tim Howard, a former USMNT international with whom Romelu shared a locker room for several years.

In the text message, Lukaku tells Howard that the situation at Chelsea is very heated and that he will soon have meetings with important figures at the club, which does not give the Belgian striker confidence.

What did Lukaku say in his text message to Howard?

According to what NBC Sport revealed, Lukaku texted his former Everton teammate Tim Howard to tell him that the situation "is very hot" and that he can't talk about it too much.

"I can't talk too much about it. It's too hot," were some of the words Lukaku sent to Howard. The message continued:

"There will be another meeting on Monday. I have another meeting on Monday, then I can talk more."

These text messages complete the information that the striker himself gave to the media in an interview, in which he said he wants to return to Inter Milan someday.

What is happening is obvious: the relationship between Romelu Lukaku and his coach Thomas Tuchel is more than broken and is unlikely to be fixed.

And this is a scandal as this situation exploded just six months after Lukaku rejoined Chelsea from Inter in a record £97.5 million moves.

Why did Lukaku send the text to Tim Howard?

Lukaku and Howard were teammates at Everton. The former was at that club from 2013 to 2017, while the latter played there from 2003 to 2016, so they developed a very close friendship.

So close that even though they no longer play together and live practically on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, they still communicate and talk to each other as if they were still in the team's dressing room.

Therefore, it was only logical that the Belgian striker would communicate with his friend to try to unburden himself of the situation he is going through.

For this reason, Howard spoke freely about Lukaku's message on an NBC Sports show he was hosting

When asked by his colleagues on the show about his opinion on what his former Everton teammate told him, Howard was cautious but blunt.

"He's certainly firm on what he (Lukaku) feels is the right thing to do, is his decision right? I think he left his manager very little choice probably, to leave him out (of the Liverpool game)," the former USMNT international commented.

The former goalkeeper continued: "I personally think this was not a good decision because Chelsea desperately need to win this game, I mean, this is the most important game of the season for them".

And he finished his comment by saying: "And he is a striker in excellent form, he has scored in the last two games, he has to be on the field.

The outlook does not look encouraging for Lukaku not only because of his bad relationship with Thomas Tuchel but also because in the game against Liverpool, Christian Pulisic broke his streak of games without a goal in the Premier League.

The player had not scored in the competition since November 20 when he netted against Leicester in his side's 3-0 win.
