Surprise in the UEFA Qualifiers! Italy did not get past the goalless draw against Northern Ireland and could not get a direct ticket to the Qatar 2022 World Cup as Switzerland beat Bulgaria 4-0. Thus, the Helvetians are in the World Cup and the Azzurra will have to go to the playoffs.

The Italian team knew that it was not dependent on itself and that it needed to score points and that Switzerland not do it against Bulgaria. It is that both teams arrived even in points on date 10 of Group C. However, Roberto Mancini's men did not achieve more than a 0-0 draw against Northern Ireland and were left with the desire to get a direct ticket to the World Cup. Qatar Now, they will go to the playoffs for a place in the next World Cup.

On the other hand, Switzerland did their homework and, thanks to goals from Noah Okafor, Ruben Vargas, Cedric Itten and Remo Freuler, they beat Bulgaria 4-0 to finish as Group C leaders in the UEFA Qualifiers. In this way, the Swiss achieved 18 points, while Italy's draw leaves Azzurra with 16 points, in second place. Thus, the Helvetians are already in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, a contest that still needs to define one more direct qualifier, beyond the playoffs.
