Among the untidiness that the current president of FC Barcelona, this Tuesday, September 7, a somewhat unusual was reported for an elite club: according to the EFE agency, Barcelona has been working with the sports brand Nike without a formal contract since 2016.
The Spanish news agency maintains that the last contract, which should exist now, was agreed in 2016 to be launched in 2018 but it never materialized due to a few differences between the parties and, also, due to the coronavirus, how much damage did to Barça.
Such news has fallen badly in the partisan press and in the Barcelona fans, who see how another mismanagement of Josep María Bartomeu leaves the club in a bad way, which has been going from bad to worse for years. EFE adds that Nike tried just in 2020 to formalize but the pandemic scared everything away and then the American brand decided to wait for the next president.
Joan Laporta has taken the reins of the case (another one) but nothing ensures that the relationship with Nike will continue ahead. The brand of the pipette dresses Barça since July 1998 and pays the Catalan club a fixed amount of 105 million euros. This was agreed with an old base contract. With the uncertainty, from Spain they report that Puma could enter the scene and offer to wear from the 2022-23 course seeing that there is nothing formal.
