Who is the top team in the world right now?

World football governing body FIFA released the new ranking for national teams yesterday, September 12, 2021 and Belgium remained in the number 1 position.

Belgium men's national team, the Red Devils have retained their number one position in the latest FIFA ranking released, despite a quarter final elimination at the past Euro 2020 where they lost to eventual Champions Italy.

Belgium first reached number one in the world in 2015 and have remained in the top five since then. They got back to number after the 2018 FIFA World Cup and have remained at number one since then.

The country has maintained the top spot for long despite not winning any international tournament for the years they have been at the position and time is fast ticking against them with many of their players going past their peak already.

Current world champions France are third, Euro 2020 champions Italy are fifth while Copa America champions Argentina are sixth. CONCACAF champions USA are 10th.
