After 13 years and two clubs away from Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the club ahead of the new season and has made an instant impact, scoring four goals in three matches. Over the last decade, he has been one of the biggest earners in world football. According to Italian journalist and transfer specialist, Fabrizio Romano, the Portuguese is set to be earning a whopping £25m per year at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese international will receive £25m per year, £2.1m per month, £480,769 per week, £96,154 per day, £12,821 per hour, £213.68 per minute and £3.56 per second. With these figures, Cristiano Ronaldo in three hours earns more than an average British citizen earns in a year. As of 2020, the UK's average salary per annum is £31,461.

 

What happened before Ronaldo joined Manchester United?

Cristiano Ronaldo endured a difficult third and final season at Juventus. He had a lot of criticisms from former players and legends of the club, many blaming him for altering the attacking flow of the team and limiting the potential of youngsters at the club. In his final season at Juventus, the club qualified for the UEFA Champions League on the final day of the season, which led to the sacking of former player and manager Andrea Pirlo and eventual departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

After the news that Ronaldo will be leaving Juventus started circulating, though Ronaldo first denied it, two clubs were said to be interested in his signature, French club Paris Saint-Germain who eventually got Lionel Messi and Manchester City which is the city rivals of Manchester United. The news that he is set to join Manchester City led to backlash from the Manchester United fans who accused him of not being loyal to the club and wanting to play for a rival. Ronaldo eventually joined Manchester United though Fabrizio Romano reported there was nothing agreed with Manchester City.
