Xavi Hernandez's return to Barcelona came at a time when the club's finances are at an all time low and he would have to make do with the players available and those he can sign on a free transfer or loans.
Barcelona have handed him €10m for signings this winter which would be his first transfer window as manager of the club. The amount allocated to him for the transfer is laughable as it would not get any of his desired players even on loan.
Top of the transfer list is Manchester City's Raheem Sterling, Manchester United's Paul Pogba, Sevilla's Jules Koundé and RB Leipzig's Dani Olmo. All of whom would cost a combined £175m.
The only option is Paul Pogba who would be a free agent in the summer but his wage demands would certainly surpass what the club can afford. It is surely a rollercoaster ride for Xavi and how he manages what is at his disposal will go a long way in deciding if he's successful or not.
