Why should the Mexican National Team imitate its worst enemy in order to dream of winning a FIFA World Cup?

The Mexican team comes from beating the Netherlands and drawing with Algeria on the last FIFA date and now has two games against Korea and Japan. Although they are important for the present of the Mexican team, Gerardo Martino must already be thinking about a plan for the future of his team. That plan should not be to try to hire foreigners who are not Mexican, but rather to empower the young players that the Mexican team already has.

The clear example that Gerardo Martino should follow is what was done at the USMNT by coach Berhalter. In recent years, great players have appeared products of the USMNT academies and all of them are playing in the best teams in Europe. The Mexican team continues to be nurtured by Liga MX players and thus lose international rhythm.

For this same reason, the Mexican team must imitate what the USMNT has done and empower the players to go to Europe as soon as possible. In this way, even if it costs them time, the players of the Mexican team will have more time with better players and thus increase their soccer level.

Other thing that Martino must imitate is that if he wants to nationalize players, they must be young players with a great future and who can help the Mexican team for many years, not only in the present. Berhalter at the USMNT is thinking about the 2026 World Cup and not the next. From now until 2026 the USMNT will prepare its players to be 100% and form a great team. Martino would have to write down these things that the USMNT is doing and think about them for the Mexican team if he wants to win a World Cup one day.
