Now that the soccer year is coming to an end, most of the teams already started planning what will be the 2022-23 season for them, especially with all the rumors going around about top players that will be on the move once the summer transfer window opens.

Wolves: Raúl Jiménez’s market value has significantly dropped after the head injury caused by David Luiz

One of those players is Robert Lewandowski, who a few weeks ago was said that already had a deal with La Liga side FC Barcelona to join them for next season, as his contract with Bayern Munich is coming to an end and negotiations for a contract extension have been stuck for a while.

Once the news broke, reports about the Bavarians looking for a replacement for the Polish striker didn’t take long to appear, as they knew that losing one of their best assets would be a huge impact for their aspirations if they didn’t find a replacement soon.

Raúl Jiménez was one of the names that was linked the most to the Bavarians, as the Wolverhampton Wanderers’ striker was already on Bayern’s radar a few years ago, although the high release clause that Wolves established back then prevented his arrival in Bundesliga.

Bayern already took a decision

It’s no lie to say that Raúl Jiménez’s performances have diminished in the past couple of seasons, as he hasn’t had the same production after the head injury that kept him out of the pitches for over nine months, as he’s only scored six goals in the current season.

The low production he’s had on the current season is not only his fault, as the team has been far from what they were used to display, but he remains the top scorer for the Wolves in the 2021-22 season even without reaching double digits.

Now, according to the journal Bild, who was the same journal that leaked the information about Lewandowski’s departure, Bayern Munich has decided to stop pursuing the addition of Raúl Jiménez as they’ve set their eyes on a different forward, which means Jiménez will remain a Wolve for the 2022-23 season.

Who is the striker that Bayern wants?

According to the reports, Julian Nagelsmann is all in on having Robert Lewandowski back for the 2022-23 season, even if that means to let him go as a free agent in June of next year, which will also mark the end of his contract, although he hopes that before that happens, the club can reach an agreement with the Polish striker to extend his contract.
