The Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester United to be played on March 20, was rescheduled due to the Reds defeating Norwich City to advance to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

English soccer's most revered rivalry was due to be played in front of a full capacity crowd at Anfield on the weekend of March 19-20. However, the match has been moved and could lead to heavy fixture congestion for both teams until the end of the season.

Liverpool are scheduled to play their FA Cup quarter-final on the weekend of Saturday-Sunday, March 19-20, and are also still involved in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League with a strong chance of progressing to the next round.

Meanwhile, Manchester United is also participating in Europe's top competition and still has a chance to earn a spot in the quarterfinals of the Champions League after a 1-1 draw in the first leg against Atletico Madrid.

Participation in these competitions may influence the rescheduling of Liverpool vs. Man United.

Why was Liverpool vs Manchester United postponed?

The match between Liverpool and Manchester United was postponed because the Reds beat Norwich City at Anfield in the FA Cup round of 16 and the quarterfinals were scheduled for the weekend of March 19-20, which is precisely when the match between the Reds and Red Devils in the Premier League was scheduled to take place.

In view of this situation, the match will be rescheduled but certain factors will have to be taken into account that does not yet allow to define the new date.

Liverpool and Manchester United continue in the Champions League and are about to play their second match in the round of 16 against their respective rivals.

Liverpool will face Inter and Manchester United will face Atletico Madrid. If both teams advance, it would mean that they would still be playing in midweek, so rescheduling the match would still be difficult.

When will Liverpool vs Man United be rescheduled?

Commitments in Europe mean that only a limited number of places are available in the match schedule.

Assuming that one of the two teams, Liverpool or Man United, advances to the Champions League semifinals and taking into account a FIFA date at the end of March, the only dates available for a possible rescheduling would be:

Wednesday, April 20

Wednesday, May 11

Wednesday, May 18

If Liverpool also advances to the FA Cup semifinals and FA Cup final, that would require another two make-up dates, as both would fall on a weekend (April 16 and May 14) and would force a delay in their Premier League matches.

The schedule looks extremely difficult for Liverpool should they go all the way in the FA Cup and Champions League.
