Despite the fact that the Dutch player has been consolidating with the Culés, Memphis Depay is wanted by Tottenham, who already offered many millions for him. But who is he, and why is he worth so much?

Although this is Tottenham's second attempt to get the striker, it is important to first review why Depay is so highly valued in the world of soccer.
Memphis Depay, born in Moordrecht, Netherlands on February 13, 1994, is a Dutch soccer player of Ghanaian descent, who plays as a striker for F. C. Barcelona in La Liga.
He is also an international with the Netherlands senior national team, with which he already played in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The striker began his career at PSV Eindhoven, a club with which he established himself at a very young age, winning the Dutch Cup and the Dutch Super Cup in 2012 and the Eredivisie in 2015.
In addition to this club, he played 124 games in which he scored 50 goals and provided 29 assists. With this record it was impossible that other clubs did not want him, so his next adventure was nothing less than Manchester United.
The Dutch striker had a good spell with the Red Devils as he won the FA Cup and the Community Shield with them in 2016, but his scoring streak was not up to par with his previous club.
With Old Trafford, Depay played 56 games, in which he could only score 7 goals and provide 6 assists. Looking to renew his career, Depay arrived in 2016 at Olympique Lyon, where his goal quota improved again.
With this club, Depay played in 177 games, in which he scored 76 goals and provided 46 assists, so in 2021, he was called by another European soccer big team: FC Barcelona, the club where he currently plays, but that could lose him to Tottenham.
According to the Daily Mirror, Spurs are offering FC Barcelona an amount close to 60 million euros for the Dutch striker, who arrived as a free agent at the club.
It should be noted that this amount is the one Tottenham offered for the striker when he was at Olympique Lyon, as the current figure offered for him is not yet disclosed to the press.
However, those 60 million euros could be even more due to the good performance that Depay has had with the Catalan side, so if Tottenham increase the offer, it would not be strange.
