After two and a half years of playing for Atlético de Madrid side, Diego “Cholo” Simeone said goodbye to one of the most reliable defenders he had. The right-back was one of the main reasons the Colchoneros won La Liga last year.

Today, “Cholo” Simeone said goodbye to this player, confirming the rumors that placed him far from Madrid. “I’m grateful for the time he spent with us. He’s work was outstanding and he was always on the best behavior.

But right before this season started, the English defender was done with Atlético de Madrid and he even requested his transfer to Manchester United. Although Simeone convinced him to stay, Kieran Trippier has decided he no longer wants to play for the Spanish team.

Where is Trippier going to play now?

The newly multimillionaire English team, Newcastle United, saw this as an opportunity to acquire the 31-year-old right-back and make him their first signing under the new management, as they’re looking to save the team from relegation and become a Champion in the next few years.
