After countless rumors involving Newcastle United negotiating with multiple players, they had only closed on deal so far, Kieran Trippier out of Atlético Madrid after the player himself asked for a transfer back to England.

Now, the Magpies, who are willing to spend money this transfer window, have closed their second deal under their new management, as they’re set to pay the $24 million exclusion clause of Burnley FC’s forward in order to strengthen their attack.

30-year-old Chris Wood will be the latest addition to a Newcastle team that is eager for a change as they fight to avoid relegation. The New Zealander striker will join Eddie Howe’s squad. He might not be the top striker people were waiting for, but he’ll be the perfect complement for Joelinton and Wilson.

Wood knows how to be part of a team that’s trying to stay on the Premier League, as his former team Burnley, is also amidst the teams on the relegation zone. So far, he’s started on 17 games this season and scored three goals. For Burnley he played a total of 165 games, where he managed to score 53 goals and 9 assistances.
