Newcastle United hasn’t stopped trying to rebuild their team in hopes of avoiding relegation this season, although they currently stand 18, right in relegation zone. But the Magpies are willing to do anything to stay in the English top flight and that’s why they’re after another defender.

It seems that Newcastle has decided to strengthen their squad with players of their relegation rival, Burnley FC, as earlier this month they paid the release clause of former Clarets’ striker Chris Wood and now are after center back James Tarkowski.
Tarkowski has 6 months left on his contract, which could mean the last opportunity for Burnley to sell him instead of letting him walk out for free at the end of the season, although they’ll have to receive a sizeable offer if they’re sending him to St. James Park.

The 29-year-old English center back has played a total of 19 games this season for the Clarets, including his outstanding performance in the 0-0 draw against Arsenal. So far, he’s scored a goal and assisted on two occasions. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is set at $25 million.
