What happened to Cristiano Ronaldo?

On April 9, Cristiano Ronaldo assaulted a 14-year-old boy who suffers from autism spectrum disorder, which put him in the eye of the storm.

After being beaten 1-0 by Everton, the Red Devils began to leave the field through a corridor through which fans can be very close to the players.

At that moment, a child took out his cell phone and tried to take a picture of Cristiano Ronaldo, who, angry at the defeat, was upset as he left the field.

But when he saw that this boy wanted to take a picture of him, he got angry and hit him on the hand, causing his cell phone to fall to the ground and get damaged and also leaving a bruise on the youngster's hand.

When the news was released, the commotion was immediate and Manchester United launched an investigation into the incident, which resulted in the player having to offer an apology for his actions.

"It is never easy to handle emotions in difficult moments like the one we are living. However, we must always be respectful, and patient and set an example for all young people who love the beautiful game. I would like to apologize for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this fun to watch a match at Old Trafford as a sign of sportsmanship and fair play," the star posted on his social networks.

However, this apology was not well received by Jake's mother.

Mother of boy assaulted by Cristiano Ronaldo rejects his apology

Sarah Kelly, Jake's mother gave an interview to the English media Echo and said that both she and her son rejected the player's apology.

"Just because it's Cristiano Ronaldo, why would we do that? It's as if we owe him a favor, but I'm sorry, we don't. We politely turned down the offer to go to United because Jake doesn't want to go there and he doesn't want to see Ronaldo."

The mother further detailed that it was her son who did not want to see Cristiano Ronaldo, so they declined the player's invitation.

"They are not my words, they are my son's words. It affected him more than me, so I let him decide: he doesn't want to go to Manchester and he doesn't want to see Ronaldo."

Sarah Kelly further detailed that the club has not handled the matter well and that it is very difficult for her son to approach the person who assaulted him again:

"United have handled it terribly and, to be honest, just made things worse," and emphasized the issue of seeing CR7 again, "The way I see it, if someone assaulted him in the street and then asked us to go for dinner, we wouldn't do it."
