Manchester United beat West Ham 1-0 on round 23 of the Premier League. The Red Devils never gave up in their fight to get three golden points to sleep in the fourth position of the standings.

The Red Devils ended up taking to their ground a very tough West Ham who fought until the end, but not as much as Manchester United who had more chances than their rival. The difference was quite big, 18 shots in total to only six for the Hammers.

Although there were hardly any clear chances in the first half, the second half was a little livelier. United finished the match with four strikers, and in the first half, there were no shots on target.

Game Highlights

The highlights were a deflected shot from Dalot and a possible penalty that Cristiano called for a grab by Zouma, but the referee saw nothing punishable in an action that was too light.

In the final stretch, Mctominay made a nice move on the by-line and inside the box, as he cleanly stole a ball from Lanzini when he was looking for the penalty with several moves.

Bowen was the most active player for the Hammers but was stopped by the United defense, while Fred put Areola in trouble early in the second half with a powerful strike from inside the box.

Young Elanga also had a chance, although he was affected by the lack of success of his teammates. Michail Antonio looked for De Gea with a shot that was too soft, so West Ham decided to create danger as they know best, that is, from the corner. Every corner was a headache for United.

In the end, Cristiano played a ball to Cavani and the Uruguayan quickly spotted an advanced Rashford who took advantage of the filtered pass to give United the victory in stoppage time. The Champions League places are now in the hunt, but they will keep an eye on their rivals in the positions below them.

Manchester United overview

Manchester United are now on 38 points, 6 points behind Chelsea who are in third, but the Red Devils have a game in hand compared to the Blues. However, United's fourth position is threatened by Tottenham, who have 36 points and three games in hand, and Arsenal, who have two games in hand and 35 points.

Manchester United's next match will be on February 4 in the FA Cup, where they will face Middlesbrough of the English second division.
