Liverpool beat West Ham United with a solitary goal from Senegal's Sadio Mané to allow the Reds to continue to put pressure on Guardiola's Manchester City.

Jürgen Klopp's side was more effective in their goal-scoring, even though only one goal was celebrated in the Premier League head-to-head. A goal, however, that was more than enough for Liverpool to take the win.

The goal was scored in the 27th minute of the match by Sadio Mané, thanks to a remarkable assist from Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Senegalese player took advantage of his teammate's gift to strike the ball with his right foot and beat Fabianski under the posts.

A 1-0 that would end up ending the match, as no one else was able to move even an inch the scoreboard at Anfield. Jonathan Moss, the referee of the match, did not have much work to do, proof of this were the three cards shown by the referee in the entire match.

The bad news of the match was Bowen's injury after a hard tackle by Alexander-Arnold. The West Ham player was treated by the medical services and had no choice but to leave the game without even being able to fully support his foot on the pitch. David Moyes recalled Said Benrahma in his place.

Salah left without his reward

And while Liverpool held on with the 1-0 lead for almost an hour, it should also be noted that the Reds had plenty of chances to have put the game to bed in front of their home fans, but it was certainly not Mohamed Salah's afternoon.

The Egyptian striker tried in every possible way and from every angle, but Fabianski saved every one of his attempts to find the net. Finally, Klopp sent him to the bench in the 79' and Diogo Jota came on in his place. Salah left with a straight face.

And with no time for more, the match came to an end, a result that kept Liverpool firmly in the hunt for the English League title with 63 points, just three points behind Manchester City, current leaders in the standings. For their part, West Ham remains fifth, in the Europa League zone, with 45 points.
