In the upcoming Premier League season, the competition between Liverpool and Man City will take a new turn

Liverpool's squad has been adding new and young players during the last few transfer windows, with the intention of renewing the squad with an eye to the future. The summer window for the 2022-23 season was no exception, and the club finally unveiled 19 year-old Fábio Carvalho, the promising reinforcement that had already been confirmed a few weeks ago.

During the last days of May, the midfielder closed his deal with the 'Reds', after being bought from Fulham, for a price of 5.9 million euros. Shortly after, the player visited the Anfield headquarters and even spoke with coach Jürgen Klopp, but the announcement still had to wait until July.

After the terms were met, Fábio Carvalho was officially presented at Liverpool, confirming his contract until June 30, 2027. The midfielder posed with the new shirt, with the dorsal number 28, and was happy for the big step in his professional career.

"It's an incredible feeling to be here. One of the biggest clubs in the world, if not the biggest. So I'm happy to be here and I can't wait to get started. Once you hear that Liverpool are interested, there is only one thought in your mind, which is to join them and try to be in and around the team," the midfielder shared to the press area of his new squad.

Promising young star

Carvalho has just won the Championship, England's second division, with Fulham, and played a vital role in the title: he scored 10 goals and made eight assists in 36 games. In addition, the young midfielder recently made his debut with Portugal's U-21 team, his country of birth, and qualified for the UEFA European Championship. It is worth mentioning that Fábio came to England as a child and played for the 'Three Lions' at youth level, but decided to change course.
