The Mexican striker was in charge of opening the scoring in the 2-0 win over Tottenham in London and was the main player in the victory for Wolves, who remain in seventh place in the overall standings with 37 points, three points away from the UEFA Europa League.

Wolves' effectiveness and good defense gave them the victory

Jiménez finished off a play in the eighth minute after two good saves by the rival goalkeeper. The second came off a rebound to Raúl, who chested the ball down and right-footed it away from the goalkeeper's hands.

Spurs had the ball in possession but were unable to project it onto the scoreboard, and before they could get Wolves into trouble, they were gifted their second goal on the 20-minute mark.

Leander Dendocker was in charge of increasing the lead in the 18th minute. And although there was time to try to shorten the score, the visitors' defensive play was perfect to take the victory on Sunday.

With his goal today, the Hidalgo-born striker reached five goals, and his club continues in the fight to get into European competitions. With 37 points, he is three points behind Manchester United, which is currently in the UEFA Europa League (on goal difference), and with the same three points behind West Ham, which is in the Champions League.

Raúl Jiménez becomes Wolves' top scorer of the season

Wolverhampton striker Raúl Jiménez became Wolves' top scorer so far this season after he reached five goals in the 2021/2022 season by scoring the first goal in Sunday's match against Tottenham, one of their main victims in England.

Jimenez's goal against Tottenham was the fifth for the Wolves '9' so far this season. His first goal came last September 26 against Southampton; the second fell on November 1 against Everton; the last of 2021 fell on November 20 with West Ham and in 2022 he made his debut on January 15 with Southampton, before the goal against Spurs.

With the five goals, the Mexican is now Wolverhampton's top scorer so far this season, having separated himself from Daniel Podence and Hee-Chan Hwang, who have four goals each.

The Mexican is in his fourth season in English soccer. During this time, Tottenham have become one of his main victims, as he has scored four times, just below the five he has scored against Southampton and Everton, and he has also scored the same number of goals against West Ham and Bournemouth.
