Sport reported that both clubs recently reached an agreement for the former Ajax player, so the Red Devils will have to pay 80 million euros for him. The Mancunians tried to reduce the price set by the Culés, however, they never gave in, as they intend to spend that figure on Bernardo Silva.

Despite the agreement between both parties, Manchester United still has to convince the player to come to the Premier League, which will not be easy, as the midfielder feels comfortable in Barcelona.

Although he has stated on several occasions that he feels comfortable and happy with the Catalan team, the board considers that Frenkie de Jong could never show his full potential at Camp Nou, so they prefer to dispense of him now.

Ten Hag is luring Frenkie

The Red Devils have a huge advantage in their side, the team’s newly appointed manager is Frenkie's former coach at Ajax, who could play a key role in convincing the Dutch player to come to Old Trafford. De Jong would be the centerpiece of the new project in Manchester.
