The FA Cup is the tournament with the longest history in world soccer: this English cup began to be played in 1871 and is now in its 141st edition, another one with great goals, surprising results, excitement, and drama.

Here are the highlights of each of the FA Cup quarter-final ties

Chelsea, Middlesbrough's bogeyman

On Saturday, the Blues beat Middlesbrough 2-0 with goals from Romelu Lukaku in the 15th minute and Hakim Ziyech in the 31st minute, quickly settling the tie and ending Boro's dream, who could do little in the match, having just 39% of possession and zero direct shots on goal. For the Londoners, this represents their sixth win in a row in all competitions.

The last time the North Yorkshire side played in the final of the tournament was in 1996-1997, losing 2-0 to Chelsea.

Guardiola to go for the treble with City

The Citizens followed suit with a comprehensive 4-1 win over Southampton FC at Saint Mary's Stadium: Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne (penalty), Phil Foden, and Riyad Mahrez were the scorers of the goal feast, with Aymeric Laporte's own goal being the home side's only goal of the game.

Crystal Palace, the other London team invited

In London, Crystal Palace thrashed Everton 4-0, which is in free fall, and coach Frank Lampard has not been able to reverse the crisis. Marc Guéhi, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Wilfred Zaha, and Will Hughes combined to hand them their fifth defeat in the last seven matches, including cup and Premier League.

Diogo Jota, the Portuguese savior

Meanwhile, Liverpool had to suffer more than they deserved to overcome Nottingham Forest of the second division by the narrowest of margins. Diogo Jota broke the deadlock for the home side, who, in the 78th minute, took advantage of a cross from the left to beat the Reds and send the Reds into the semifinals.
