The continuity of Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United remains unknown, the 37 year-old idol has one more year of contract with the English club, but through his agent he flirted with several suitors, since he is not confident that the Red Devils have a project that will lead him back to fight for titles.

Several interested parties emerged. One of them was Sporting Lisbon, where the striker took his first steps in the elite. Bayern Munich was another, who are looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski. And also Roma, newly crowned Conference League champions under the management of Jose Mourinho, an old acquaintance of the Portuguese star.

"I know from a very reputable person that Roma are trying to get Cristiano Ronaldo by all means. We will have to iron out details, because of image rights, but I know that he will leave United," added Fabio Petruzzi, a former defender for the Italian capital club.

Cristiano, who like Messi is aiming to be in top form for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, which starts in November, is facing the possibility of rekindling his partnership with Mourinho, who excelled at Real Madrid. With ‘Mou’ on the bench, Ronaldo won three titles, scored 168 goals and provided 49 assists.

Ronaldo’s efforts in Manchester showed no results

As a proof of his validity, last season he scored 24 goals in 38 matches, a performance far above what Manchester United offered, which potentially threatened to fight for titles, but only managed to secure a place in the next Europa League by finishing sixth in the Premier League standings, with a record of 16 wins, 10 draws and 12 defeats.
