Roy Keane has delivered a scathing assessment of Manchester United following their 0-2 defeat to Arsenal in the 14th round of the Premier League. Speaking on The Overlap, the outspoken former captain did not hold back, pointing fingers at key players and the team’s overall lack of urgency and quality.
One of Keane’s sharpest criticisms was directed at Marcus Rashford, who he believes underperformed throughout the match. “Marcus Rashford went on the pitch and his performance was simply shocking. Look at his header. What did the substitutions give United? Nothing. The substitutions did nothing,” said Keane, expressing frustration at the team’s inability to influence the game.
Keane went on to describe United’s overall play as disjointed and uninspired. “Manchester United absolutely don’t deserve anything. Their play is terrible. Do you know what’s happening with United? They’re deceiving you, they’re misleading you. They have no dynamism,” he said.
For Keane, the match was indicative of deeper issues within the squad, including a perceived lack of motivation and intensity. “I’m very disappointed in Manchester United. I felt like the players played without much motivation. For Arsenal, it was too easy.”
When asked if there were any positive takeaways from the game, Keane was blunt: “No. The first half was decent, but I expected more. Probably, the coach thought United were playing better than they actually are. Towards the end, I started getting really frustrated.”
The loss highlights the Red Devils' ongoing struggles to find consistency under their current management, leaving fans and pundits questioning the team’s trajectory.
