Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has sparked debate with his latest comments on Cristiano Ronaldo, suggesting the Portuguese superstar would have outscored Erling Haaland at Manchester City.
In a recent interview, Solskjaer revealed the behind-the-scenes story of Ronaldo's return to Old Trafford. He explained that the club was keen to secure the services of the legendary forward, despite concerns about potential squad dynamics.
"To answer that, a little context is needed. Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the best players in the world the last 15 years. I played with him. He played for Manchester United. He has history with the club and he's leaving Juventus but we can not give him to Manchester City because he will score more goals than Erling Haaland is doing at the moment probably," Solskjaer stated.
However, the Norwegian tactician also acknowledged the potential impact of Ronaldo's arrival on the team's overall balance. "So I speak to Cristiano. We get him to Man Utd but I think maybe that affected the whole dressing room, the dynamic in the dressing room. Maybe other players felt less important because of course this is one of the world superstars that comes in," he added.
Solskjaer's comments have reignited the debate about Ronaldo's impact on modern football. While many admire his incredible goal-scoring ability and unwavering dedication, others argue that his presence can sometimes disrupt team harmony.
